Do You Know About Playing for Change?

Have you seen the Playing for Change music videos on YouTube?

I wasn't on YouTube very much.

But that's changed now... thanks to Playing for Change.

Recently, a friend of mine, turned me on to Playing for Change on YouTube.

Needless to say I've become hooked to it. Playing for Change was born in 2002 and has produced over 400 videos with over 1,200 musicians in 60+ countries.

I added this video below, Ripple from the Grateful Dead, because it has David Crosby in this. Who as you may know, past away Jan.18, 2023 This was recorded 7 years ago.

What is Playing for Change?

After watching several videos, I became curious about Playing for Change, how this came about and who is behind it. What I learned about Play for Change, is it's a really cool B Corp.

What is the B Corp? The B Corp is a movement that is transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet.

Playing for Change is a Certified B Corporation.

"Playing For Change was created to inspire and connect the world through music. The idea for this project came from a common belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people." Mark Johnson co-founder of Playing for Change.

Do you have a connection with people through music?

I really like this quote above by Mark Johnson. I truly believe this is true.

Music has had a connection with me and to people I know my whole life. Now, after watching these videos, Playing for Change has made a big connection to people all over the world for me. Everything from the instruments used, the artists, and where they are located. It's a wonderful connection with such talented people.

You can be a part of the movement.

If you go their website, you can become a member of this wonderful movement. I became a member.

At just $54 a year, you get so much. Besides awesome music videos...there's a monthly raffle. A nice 25% off discount to their online shop. They offer t-shirts, cd's, vinyl albums and very cool musical instruments. The musical instruments offered on the website, are some of the instruments in the videos. You'll also be first to know of new releases. Which I really like, because I can't wait to see what the next song will be featured and who will be collaborating on it.

There are many more music videos on their website that are exclusive to members.

There is also documentaries that they have made, including their award winning documentary.

I really enjoy the music that is created from all these artists.

As an added bonus seeing the surroundings where these artists are located. Such as Morocco, Brazil, Japan and so many more. Places I know I'll never visit, because I don't travel very much.

I have many favorite videos they've created, but my top 5 are:

  1. (Sittin' on) the Dock of the Bay 50th Anniversary

  2. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For

  3. Come As You Are

  4. When The Levee Breaks (Featuring John Paul Jones)

  5. Colors

I really enjoy listening to and watching these videos while having meals or while I'm working on the computer. The videos have a way of making you feel so good.
